Keynote Speaker Ruben Culmsee

Ruben Culmsee started his Postal career in 1994 in Sacramento District. He was a Sacramento city letter carrier for 23 years assigned to Fort Sutter, Oak Park, Colonial, and Royal Oaks offices. He served as a NALC (National Assoc. for Letter Carriers) Union shop steward for 15 years. From 2019 – present he serves as the Safety Supervisor for City of Sacramento, Postmaster.

Our special guest is Rich Tatum with the National Pony Express Assoc. (California Chapter) he will be going over the history of the Pony Express and give insight to the 2021 Re-Ride from Old Sacramento to Missouri.

The Pony Express has fascinated Americans since its first riders hit the leather in April 1860. It traveled 1,966 miles between Missouri and California in 10 days or less! This innovative mail service lasted only 19 months, but won a permanent place in the history of the American West.

The National Pony Express Association (NPEA) strives to keep the spirit and memory of the Pony Express alive. NPEA was established in 1978 to honor the memory and endeavors of the Pony Express riders of 1860-1861 and to identify, preserve, and mark the original Pony Express route through the eight states it crossed: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California

Sacramento PCC Mail Design Professional Course:
(Two-Year Certification)

The Mail Design Professional

(MDP) course provides in-depth training on postal standards related to designing letter and flat mail to facilitate processing on high speed automation equipment while maximizing cost effectiveness and reducing processing delays. To be certified, the student must complete the MDP examination and pass at 80% or higher accuracy. 

Upon completion of this course you will be able to: 

  • Properly design various types of mail.
  • Design mail to enhance its compatibility with usps automation equipment while maximizing cost effectiveness.
  • And you will learn elements of design that will increase the market value and deliverability of mail pieces.

Angela began working for the Postal Service in 1994 in the Sacramento District. She is currently assigned to the WestPac Area as a Senior Business Service Network Specialist, covering the territories of California and Hawaii. Angela functions as a liaison between HQ, Area, District, and local offices to provide assistance to large volume managed account customers with mailing and shipping issues.
